Brighton striker Locadia: It's my job to prove the manager wrong

Brighton & Hove Albion forward Jurgen Locadia says he has to prove to manager Chris Hughton that he was wrong to leave him out of the squad recently.

Locadia was not in the 18-man squad for the 1-0 win over Huddersfield earlier this month and then only came into the squad for the 2-1 victory at Crystal Palace after Florin Andone pulled out in the warm-up.

The Dutchman came off the bench to score as Albion fought back from 2-0 down to firce extra-time at Millwall in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Sunday. He then netted from the penalty spot as Albion progressed 5-4 on spot-kicks.

Locadia accepts Hughton has a lot of options in the forward areas and says he has to show he deserves to play: "We've got a lot of players and a lot of players with good qualities. At the end of the day the coach has got to make a decision.

"If you fall out (of the squad) you've got to keep believing in yourself, keep showing up at training and give 100 per cent and show that he is wrong.

"That's the only job I've got to do, to show the coach that he's wrong. We've got quality players, so I think it's difficult also for him to make a decision.

"Of course I was disappointed. At the moment Anthony (Knockaert) was playing well, scoring goals and assists. If he chooses Anthony it's my job to prove him wrong."
