Connolly has netted 11 goals in 13 games this season as Albion sit third in Premier League 2 Division 1, after promotion last year.

The 18-year-old Irish forward featured for Brighton's first-team during pre-season and made a brief appearance in the EFL Cup defeat to Southampton in August.

Asked about Connolly's form this season, Hughton said: "We take a great interest in the under-23s and on lots of occasions they will train with us.

"We're very aware of Aaron's strengths. He's somebody from the age he first played who has always scored goals.

"At the moment he's playing in a good team. Credit to Simon Rusk and his staff, they are having a very good season and have probably surpassed most people's expectations going into the level of league they are now.

"He's very much on our radar but he is one of a good group of players who are excelling this season."
