Speaking to The Argus, Potter said: “As a coach your mind is on just working with the guys that you’ve got but I also know that it’s football, that there are things that are sometimes out of my control and I have to respect that. But he’s been great to work with and he’s done his best every day.

“Working with him the last two weeks he has given everything every day, really professional. We can see his quality - that’s clear. It’s that time of year, of course, when there’s lots of news and speculation.

“From my perspective, I just work with the players we have and try to help them get better.”

According to the Sun and other national outlets, Leicester City have agreed a whopping £45m deal for centre-back Lewis Dunk – a transfer whoich looks to hinge on Harry Maguire’s apparently imminent big-money departure to Manchester United.

Despite multiple reports to the contrary, Geoff Peters of talkSPORT rubbished all the rumours, so Dunk’s future remains the topic of much speculation.
