Millwall goalkeeper apologises for mistake in FA Cup defeat to Brighton

Millwall goalkeeper David Martin has apologised for his mistake in the Lions' FA Cup quarter-final defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion this afternoon.

Millwall led 2-0 and appeared in complete control with just three minutes remaining. However Jurgen Locadia pulled a goal back with a fierce strike on 88 minutes before Martin spilled Solly March's free kick into his own net deep into injury-time.

That send the game to extra-time and after neither side could find a winner, Brighton progressed 5-4 on penalties and will now face Manchester City in the semi-finals over the weekend of April 6 and 7.

Martin tweeted this evening: "Gutted about what happened today and want to apologise to everyone at Millwall, the fans were superb as always and created an unbelievable atmosphere at The Den.

"I’m so sorry I let you down and I will come back stronger."
