Portsmouth defender Matt Clarke is having a medical ahead of a move to Brighton.
New Albion boss Graham Potter looks set to land his first signing since taking the reins at the Amex after targeting the £5m-rated centre-half.
Clarke excelled in League One for Pompey, missing out on promotion but lifting the Checkatrade Trophy.
Brighton were understood to have made a £3million bid for the 22-year-old, but Pompey boss Kenny Jackett confirmed this week that negotiations were ongoing over the fee.
He said: “We’ve got to consider every angle – obviously our team, the club, the player as well and what his feelings are.”
The transfer now seems a formality, with Pompey comfortable with Clarke carrying out his medical with the Seagulls.
