Wolves boss Nuno praises Brighton's defensive efforts

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo paid credit to Brighton & Hove Albion's stout defending in this afternoon's goalless draw in the Premier League, but conceded that his side should have done better in front of goal.

The hosts dominated all aspects of the game. Wanderers recorded 68 per cent possession and had 22 shots on goal, although only five were on target.

After the draw Nuno praised Albion for their backs-against-the-wall defending, but the Portuguese manager was less than impressed with Wolves' profligacy in front of goal.

He said: "Today was difficult. We knew how difficult it was going to be as Brighton are a team that puts a lot of players in the box.

"It was very difficult to break this team. To be able to break Brighton we had to create situations and combinations in wide areas.

"Brighton defended, and they defended well. Their main objective was to not concede but it was up to us (to score).

"We should have done better in some moments and situations, but (they produced) good goalkeeping.

"They put all their bodies in front of goal, so it was difficult.

"Even though they did do well, we had chances and we had a lot of the ball.

"We tried to move the ball with intensity, but it was not our day. That's football.

"The boys tried everything. It was just a case of the ball not hitting the back of the net."
