The 20-year-old has penned a new deal until the summer of 2021, after scoring twice in 16 matches for League Two Swindon so far this season.

Albion under-23 coach Simon Rusk said: “Steven had an excellent first season with the club, helping the under-23s win promotion.

“This season he’s seized the opportunity he’s been given with Swindon, and is playing regular senior football.

“He’s worked hard and made good progress there, and it’s that hard work and progression which has earned him this new contract.”

Alzate joined Albion from Leyton Orient in 2017 and his form for the under-23s last season saw him called up to the first-team squad for Albion’s FA Cup tie at Middlesbrough.
