Lallana, 32, hobbled off at the end of the first half in Brighton's opening match of the new Premier League campaign against Chelsea at the Amex Stadium last Monday.

The summer arrival from Liverpool suffered severe cramping in the calf after taking a couple of heavy challenges in a bruising encounter against Frank Lampard's men.

White, who was making his Premier League debut for Brighton, made an encouraging start to his Albion career under Graham Potter and played well against Chelsea.

He too was forced off with 10 minutes to go after injuring his ankle following an important sliding tackle in the box to thwart Timo Werner.

Both Lallana and White are due to train today and have a chance to be fit to face Newcastle, who started their Premier League season in style with 2-0 away win at West Ham.

"He (Adam) will join the group today for training," said Potter. "So that's positive. It's understandable when you consider Adam's history and we need to help him and get him on the pitch as much as possible.

"We will give him time before we make that decision. We can see where he is and look to make a decision as late as Saturday.

"Ben (White) will take part in the training today. A bit like Adam he has a chance for Newcastle but we will make a decision for that probably Saturday."

Key midfielder Davy Propper is in contention for Sunday after he came through a full 90 minutes during Brighton's impressive 4-0 Carabao Cup victory against Portsmouth.

Propper missed the Chelsea match as he continues to recover his full-fitness following a calf injury.

Dale Stephens also played against Porstmouth but he came off with five minutes to go as precaution after feeling a bit of tightness in his leg.
