Adam Webster will miss Brighton's trip to Leicester in the FA Cup on Wednesday

Webster hobbled off the pitch in the 75th minute during the 1-1 draw at Burnley last Saturday after he rolled his ankle as he made a last ditch challenge on Burnley striker Matej Vydra.

Webster tried to play on but was forced off and replaced by Adam Lallana.

Potter confirmed the Leicester match will be too soon for the £20m defender who also faces a battle to be fit for the Premier League fixture against Aston Villa at the Amex this Saturday

“He's not too bad, but there is still a little bit of swelling. The Game against Leicester will be too soon for him. We will wait and see if he can make the weekend.

"It is still a little bit early but we will know more in the next 24 to 48 hours. But as it stands, it's not a serious one. He rolled his ankle, it's the back of his ligament.

"It is not too bad but still a little sore."

Tariq Lamptey (hamstring), Davy Propper (groin), Alireza Jahanbakhsh (hamstring) and Solly March (knee) are also out.

"The Leicester game will be too soon [for Propper],"said Potter. "He has an outside chance of Aston Villa, but more likely Crystal Palace.

"It has been a frustrating situation for Davy for different reasons but we will help him and support him through this last little set back.

"It is not a major one and we are expecting him back in the next few days and hopefully he can have a really good second half of the season as he's an important player for us."

March is expected to be sidelined for 12 weeks following his knee injury sustained during the 1-0 victory at Liverpool last Wednesday.

"Solly has had his surgery and it’s gone well, that’s good for him and us," said Potter. "The recovery will be slow but necessary, it’s a blow because he’s been really good, but that’s football."

Goalkeeper Jason Steele has recovered from a recent illness and is fit enough to take his place in the squad this Wednesday but Christian Walton, who played in the previous FA Cup round against Blackpool, is expected to start in goal.
