A last-gasp header from Kelechi Iheanacho settled an even match against Albion to send the Foxes into the quarter-finals.

"I think everyone in the stadium was delighted it wasn't half an hour more for extra-time," Leicester boss Rodgers said.

"The game was a bit broken. There were a lot of changes in the game [and] not so many chances.

"Both teams had periods with the ball.

"You have to keep going, keep fighting. It was quick thinking of the boys to take the corner quickly and it caught them when they were unorganised."

Rodgers was delighted with the late winner, which gave Brighton no time to strike back, and he now has his sights firmly on potential silverware.

He added: "It's another clean sheet, a great win, players getting minutes and getting through to the quarter-finals again.

"I believe we have improved, the mentality in the team has grown over the last year. Let's see if we can make the next step, let's see who we get."
