Brighton and Hove Albion lead race for Manchester United-linked goalkeeper, Arsenal scout Seagulls star

Brighton and Hove Albion are preparing for a huge Premier League clash with Newcastle United – but transfer speculation is never too far away.

And one player who is rarely out of the transfer rumour mill is young full-back Tariq Lamptey.

Even after being ruled out for the remainder of the season with a hamstring problem, the 20-year-old’s future on the South Coast is still being discussed.

Arsenal are the club that are most frequently linked with the England under-21s international – and today is no different.

According to Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the Gunners are in the market for a right-back at the end of the season, and Lamptey is said to be an option.

“I can confirm that Arsenal are scouting him, they are following him closely,” Romano revealed on his Here We Go Podcast.

“But just to clarify… at the moment there is nothing. It is just scouting the player. There is nothing close to an agreement with Brighton. There are no advanced negotiations.

“I can say that Arsenal want to sign a right-back, but they have a list. So, I expect a right-back on the market for Arsenal, but let’s see if it will be Lamptey or another one.”

Meanwhile, the Seagulls are waiting for the green light to take Celtic goalkeeper Vincent Angelini on trial, as per the Daily Record.

The 17-year-old has been invited to train at Albion’s HQ with a view to signing when his contract expires this summer. Celtic, however, will be due compensation.

Manchester United, AC Milan, Lazio and Juventus have all been linked with the young Scot.
