Brighton and Hove Albion will sanction player exit as young Seagulls ace tipped to join Sunderland

Brighton and Hove Albion could be set to send another player out on loan this month as Graham Potter trims down his squad.

Jayson Molumby and Viktor Gyokeres have joined Preston North End and Coventry City, respectively, over the last few weeks but that might not be all.

The Sun report that the Seagulls are ready to loan goalkeeper Christian Walton out, and that is despite his contract expiring at the end of the campaign.

Walton, 25, has been loaned to six different clubs during his seven years at the Amex Stadium, the most recent being Blackburn Rovers.

Albion opted against loaning him out last summer, hence why many people expected the former Plymouth Argyle youngster to challenge Mat Ryan for the number one jersey.

However, things haven't gone the way Walton hoped after he picked up an ankle injury during Brighton’s pre-season friendly with Chelsea in August.

During his time of recovery, Ryan has been replaced by Robert Sanchez in net with Jason Steele acting as back-up.

Brighton’s well-stocked goalkeeping department has seemingly left Walton surplus to requirement.

The best news to come out of Albion this month is Tariq Lamptey’s new contract, which was announced on Sunday.

The highly-rated 20-year-old put pen to paper on a deal lasting until 2025 amid interest from a host of European clubs.

Indeed, another player may join Walton out the exit door.
