Brighton & Hove Albion among favourites to sign Nottingham Forest star in January transfer window

There's just over a week left of the January transfer window, and clubs are continuing to work relentlessly in the pursuit of attracting new players, in a month which has become notoriously difficult to secure quality signings.

Albion have been linked with a number of players since the turn of the year, but are still yet to dip into the market.

The club, currently lying in 15th place in the Premier League table, are in danger of being sucked into a relegation battle, with a five-point gap opening up between them and Newcastle United in 14th.

Now, bookmakers Sky Bet have priced up the Seagulls as 6/1 second favourites to sign Nottingham Forest's versatile midfielder Matty Cash, who has excelled in the full-back for his side this season.

As things stand, West Ham United are the 3/1 favourites to sign the former Wycombe Wanderers academy starlet, while national media reports have suggested that Serie A sleeping giants AC Milan have a keen interest in the player.

Brighton are understood to be eager to secure a right-back before the deadline, with some quality competition for Martin Montoya required ahead of a gruelling run-in to the 2019/20 campaign.

The club have also been linked with a move for Tottenham Hotspur's Kyle Walker-Peters, but a number of interested parties - including the likes of Crystal Palace and Southampton - are said to have been put off by the north London side's lofty £12 million asking price.
