Danny Welbeck celebrates his goal against Leeds

Leeds started slowly and Brighton broke a three-game goal drought by taking the lead through a Pascal Gross penalty in the 14th minute.

Ezgjan Alioski was penalised for bringing down Danny Welbeck in the area and Gross found the bottom left corner with the resulting spot-kick.

Brighton remained 1-0 ahead at the break but should have doubled their lead in the 40th minute.

Very little to do but did what he had to do with confidence. Distribution was good and calm and assured as always.

Seagulls forward Leandro Trossard blazed high and wide with the goal gaping after Leeds cheaply conceded possession deep inside their own half.

Brighton finally doubled their advantage to 2-0 with 11 minutes to play courtesy of a sublime goal from Welbeck.

After Pascal Struijk cleared into the air inside the Leeds area, Welbeck executed a perfect 'Cruyff/Gross turn' as the ball dropped before firing into the bottom right corner.

Defensively sound against his old teammates. One remarkable dribble in the first half as he ran the entire length of the pitch but just ran out of room. Classy display.
Fully focused and committed for the entire match. The win just about seals Brighton's safety and no one has contributed more than Dunk this season. Comfortable on the ball when going forward and a sublime moment as he casually chested back to the goalkeeper to ease pressure.
Played on the left of the defensive trio and getting back to his best after a long spell out with injury. Linked well with Dan Burn down the left and the two were a powerful combination for Leeds to deal with
The versatile Dutchman was on the right this time and another classy display. Composed and forward thinking in possession and never gives the ball away. Had a great chance to score early in the second half but lifted his effort over the bar
Did not stop all afternoon and won tackle after tackle. He just seemed stronger and faster to the ball than any Leeds player
Moved into a more central position. Scored from the spot with a well taken penalty. Excellent in the first half with a number of clever 'Gross' turns and intelligent crossing.
Quite a tussle with Ayling. Defended well and looked to stride forward when he could. A number of crucial defensive headers but also good in possession and some a couple of very dangerous crosses. best game for a while.
Never stopped running. Missed a very good chance to make it 2-0 on 66 minutes when he scuffed an effort from Trossard's pass. Caused real problems for the defence
A Brighton start and had two early efforts saved by Leeds keeper Illan Meslier. Missed a sitter on 40 minutes when he side footed over after Leeds made a mess of playing out from the back. Decent display from the Belgian.
A lovely first touch and goal for Welbeck and also won the penalty after he was bundled over by Ezgjan Alioski. Telling contributions.
