Chief executive and deputy chairman Paul Barber said, “They plan to begin a telephone service checking in on our older supporters who are self-isolating at home – even if it’s just to chat about their experiences supporting the Albion.

“We are a community club and it’s a small but practical thing we can do to support people who mean a lot to us and who have been there for the club over many years.”

Brighton have also promised to donate 1,000 tickets to NHS workers for future matches when football resumes after the coronavirus pandemic.

Earlier this month they donated hundreds of meals to local homeless charities after fixtures were postponed.

They also offered season ticket holders and 1901 Club members a three-month payment holiday to help ease financial pressures on fans due to the coronavirus outbreak.
