Brighton transfer news: Albion battle Southampton for free agent as Arsenal target plans summer exit

The transfer window may be closed until the summer but Graham Potter could still bolster his Brighton ranks.

Albion completed the signing of Ecuador star Moises Caicedo on deadline day - the club’s only incoming last month.

And even with the transfer window shut, speculation surrounding the Seagulls and their Premier League rivals is showing no signs of going away.

According to the Daily Mail, Brighton, alongside Burnley, Southampton and CSKA Moscow, are keeping tabs on free agent Ahmed Musa.

Musa, formerly of Leicester City, is without a club after leaving Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr and has been training with West Bromwich Albion.

The 28-year-old arrived in England on Tuesday and underwent medical tests ahead of training with the Baggies on Wednesday.

Sam Allardyce wants to offer the Nigerian a contract until the end of the season but it is proving difficult as the club’s owners are now struggling to release the relevant funds after a busy January.

The delay could prove costly and work in the Albion’s favour, with the teams named above willing to make Musa an offer or inviting him in to train with them instead.

One potential saving grace for West Brom – and one to watch for interested parties – could arrive in the form of Kamil Grosicki IF he completes a move back to Poland.

The 32-year-old is out-of-contract in the summer and Legia Warsaw would like to sign him now with their transfer window open until February 24.

Meanwhile, Albion’s promotion-winning midfielder Jiri Skalak has left Millwall and returned to the Czech Republic to join FK Boleslav.
