Brighton transfer news: Potter responds to big-name exit claim, PL giants urged to plot Albion raid

Brighton manager Graham Potter has responded to rumours linking Albion defender with a potential move to Tottenham Hotspur.

According to Football.London, Spurs have identified the towering centre-back as a possible summer transfer target, and ticks several boxes for Jose Mourinho’s men as a consistent performer who would also boost their quota of homegrown talent.

The 29-year-old has featured in 27 Premier League matches for the Seagulls this season, and is their third-highest-rated performer of the campaign, according to stats website Whoscored.

His constant presence and high level of output is in-keeping with Potter’s regular claims that he is Albion’s “best player”, but the manager has kept decidedly tight-lipped about the prospect of a summer exit.

When asked about the current speculation surrounding Dunk, he said: "You would have to speak to the chairman [Tony Bloom] about that. He decides what the value is [of a player] and all that sort of stuff.

"It goes without saying that Lewis is a fantastic player for us, represents us in an amazing way, and is a top player.

"As to any speculation that is the first I have heard of. I don't take much interest in that."

Elsewhere, Arsenal legend Michael Thomas has urged the Gunners to make a move for Yves Bissouma.

The Malian has enjoyed a breakout campaign on the south coast this season, and is also said to be attracting interest from Liverpool.

But Thomas believes that the midfielder could be an ideal addition for his former club in north London.

Speaking to Goal, he said: “Yves Bissouma of Brighton would be my pick for a partner to Thomas Partey in central midfield.

"Both are solid, can use the ball well and are 90-minute players.”

This isn’t the first time that Bissouma has been mentioned in relation to a potential move to Arsenal.

According to Football.London, the player was “open” to a move to the Emirates in January, but a deal ultimately failed to materialise.

So far this season, the 24-year-old has made 28 top flight appearances for Brighton, scoring once.
