Brighton transfer news: Seagulls ace linked with divisional rivals, ex-Celtic boss speaks out on Spurs links

Brighton & Hove Albion moved another step closer to safety last night, when they picked up a point in a goalless draw with Chelsea - a game overshadowed by the European Super League drama unfolding off the field which saw the competition collapse less then 48 hours after it was announced.

The result leaves the Seagulls a solid seven points clear of the relegation zone in 16th place, and they also have the luxury of a game in hand over 18th place Fulham.

Speaking after the game, Brighton boss Graham Potter revealed his delight at the ESL's collapse, and claimed: “We're very pleased. We feel it stands against everything we know as football.

“It would be wrong to create something where there is no threat of relegation and you want the chance to compete to play in Europe.

“If we are in a place where it is stopping, that is fantastic news. Sometimes a fan can be thought of as a consumer and we are in danger if that is the case.”

Next up, Brighton return to top-tier action this weekend, when they travel to take on already-relegated Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Saturday night.

Here are today's biggest transfer stories and the latest team news involving Brighton & Hove Albion and the rest of the Premier League, as the reaction to the midweek action continues:
