Brighton transfer news: Unhappy Albion player set for summer exit, Update on swoop for Barcelona defender

Brighton forward Percy Tau could be headed for the exit door this summer.

That’s according to Voetbal24, who suggest that the South Africa international is unhappy with his lot on the south coast after struggling to make an impact on the first team picture at the Amex.

Tau joined up with the Seagulls in January after a series of loan spells in Belgium following his initial signing for the club back in 2018.

Since then, however, he has managed just 85 minutes of Premier League action, and hasn’t played for Albion in any competition since they were dumped out of the FA Cup by Leicester City in February.

The 26-year-old is still yet to score for Graham Potter’s side, and this latest update claims that he has struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League.

The piece suggests that Tau “cannot continue” in the top flight, and makes it clear that he will look for a new club in the summer transfer window.

A return to Belgium is touted, with Anderlecht seemingly his most likely destination.

Royal Antwerp are also said to be in the running, but they could struggle to meet the £3 million price tag that Brighton will demand for the forward.

The Seagulls paid around £2.88 million for the player three years ago.

Elsewhere, Albion are said to be keen on signing Barcelona defender Oscar Mingueza.

The 21-year-old has enjoyed a breakout campaign for the Catalan giants, and his efforts have reportedly piqued the attention of Brighton chiefs.

The Spaniard is set to be out of contract this summer, and Mundo Deportivo suggest that the Seagulls are one of three clubs monitoring his situation, with Real Betis and Sampdoria also keen.

However, the trio could struggle to prise Mingueza away from his boyhood club, with the report going on to claim that Barca have made the extension of his current deal an “urgent case”.

What’s more, it is understood that the La Liga powerhouse have the option to unilaterally extend the defender’s contract by two years, provided they make a decision before May 31st.
