Duffy named Brighton's player of the season

Defender Shane Duffy has been crowned Brighton & Hove Albion's player of the season for 2018/19.

The Irishman has been a rock at the back throughout the season and has formed a formidable partnership with Lewis Dunk over the past three campaigns.

Duffy has helped Albion keep seven clean sheets and is also their second top-scorer with five goals.

Dunk won the players' player of the season award, which was voted for by the first-team squad.

Albion's goal of the season award was won by Anthony Knockaert for his stunning winner in the 2-1 victory at Crystal Palace in March.

Aileen Whelan was named women's player of the season, with the award voted for by manager Hope Powell and her staff.

Dani Buet won the women's goal of the season for her effort against Everton.

The American Express Elite Performance award was won by Aaron Connolly, who starred for the under-23 team this season and is now on loan at League One leaders Luton.

The Albion in the Community award went to Seb Finch, a long-serving member of the BHAFC Powerchair team.

Sam Harwood, who has overcome cancer and now volunteers for a children's cancer charity, was the fan of the season.

The Sarah Watts inspiration award was won by seven-year-old Noah Gofur, who called the police when his mum collapsed at home.
