In the meantime, record numbers of football fans have been taking to Football Manager to get their fix. For a bit of fun, we've fired up the popular management sim and sent the game into the future, to have a peek at who the Seagulls are predicted to sign over the next three transfer windows.
9. Sergio Escudero - Sevilla - 4.5 million
A reliable impact sub for the La Liga outfit, the former Schalke man is brought in to do the same job for the Seagulls, at a pretty fair fee, too.
10. David Hancko - Atalanta - 12 million
Good news to kick us off: Brighton stay up again. Boy, do they splash the cash in response. The Slovakia international, a left-back, becomes the first signing of the summer.
11. Dominik Szoboszlai - RB Salzburg - 19 million
My word, what a coup. The Seagulls spend big to get the Hungarian central midfielder, and look to build the team around him. He's only 21, and has a big future ahead of him.
12. Eray Comert - Basel - 4.6 million
After tearing it up in his native Switzerland, Brighton take a gamble on the ball-playing centre-back. He's very quick for a central defender, and should prove a decent acquisition.
