The 51-year-old was in charge of the Seagulls from 2009 to 2013, winning the League One title in 2010/11 which was his first full season as a manager.

Poyet was sacked by Albion after the 2012/13 season and has since managed Sunderland, AEK Athens, Real Betis, Shanghai Shenhua and Bordeaux.

He has been out of work since leaving Bordeaux in September 2018 but the BBC are now reporting Poyet is in the frame to be named the new Swans boss to replace Graham Potter, who was appointed Brighton's new manager last month.

The BBC reports Poyet, Michael Appleton and Cameron Toshack are all due to have second interviews with Championship side Swansea, while Charlton boss Lee Bowyer and former West Brom manager Darren Moore have also been linked with the role.

Poyet is priced at 7/2 to become the new Swansea manager on both SkyBet and PaddyPower, behind only Tranmere manager Micky Mellon (11/8 and 10/11), who the BBC report is out of the running, and Toshack (3/1).

Former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry is priced at 14/1 on SkyBet and former Nuremburg boss Michael Kollner is 10/1.
