Graham Potter 'in or out' online poll reveals Brighton fans' true feelings ahead of Man City and Leeds

Go on then hand’s up, how many reading this said just after 10.30pm on Sunday evening, “Well that’s two-and-a-half hours of my life I will never get back?”

Not the best FA Cup third round showing I’ve ever seen from the Albion, in fact I had to go back to 2007/08 when we were turned over at the Withdean by Mansfield, at that time 91st in the Football League, to think of something comparable.

But once again after the penalty shootout win against Newport County, Graham ‘Nine Lives’ Potter lives on to manage another day, but not before further polarising the Albion support.

During this current situation after every game a post on the popular Albion fansite North Stand Chat puts up a "Potter In or Out" thread.

At time of going to press, the post Newport County poll stood at 250 in and 151 out. Just to add some perspective, the poll eight days before Newport came out at 305 in and 148 out.

Not huge numbers up against the total Albion support, but clearly passionate fans who all have their opinions, and no doubt if performances continue in the same vein the poll results might significantly change.

I’m writing this before the Albion take on Manchester City last night (Wednesday) and no doubt whatever the result there will be another poll up and running. Lets just hope its not in the wake of City surpassing Man United and Leicester City’s joint Premier League record of 9-0 wins?

That said, right from the Albion's first ever Premier League game, which ironically was against City at the Amex, the Albion have effectively a number of "free hit" games each season against the top clubs where the expect nothing.

So anything is a bonus, City are in this category, but as we all know football is a funny game, could the Albion get a result at the Etihad? Stranger things have happened.

Regardless of that though, it's Saturday’s visit to Elland Road and the mighty Leeds United that Graham Potter will hope his current run of bad luck might actually run out.

Something’s got to give. Clearly Tony Bloom has no intention, as previously stated in this column, of sacking Potter despite some dire performances that would have seen previous Albion bosses collecting their P45.

So maybe that long overdue streak of good luck will turn up in Yorkshire this weekend? I’ll go, Leeds 1-2 Albion!
