In the midweek edition of his regular scoreline predictions piece, BBC Sport pundit and broadcaster Mark Lawrenson turned his attention to the Seagulls' clash against the Citizens, and tipped Pep Guardiola's side to win the game 3-0.

Explaining the reasons behind his choice, the ex-Seagulls ace contended: “City are surely going to bring some of their A-listers back after resting them in Friday's win over Newcastle. It's a good idea to keep them ticking over with the Champions League final on 29 May in mind.

“Brighton are neat and tidy as we know, but I don't see them hurting City.”

Meanwhile, Lawro's opponent for the week, actor and Leeds fan Matthew Lewis, tipped the visitors to win 2-0, and said: “Brighton don't ever score a lot of goals and even City's B team is very strong.”

The last time the two sides faced each other, back in January, City secured a narrow 1-0 victory at the Etihad Stadium, with England international Phil Foden scoring the winning goal late on in the first half.

A win for the Seagulls tomorrow night could see them move as high as 15th in the table, as they sit in a tightly-packed trio including Burnley and Newcastle United who are at the bottom end of the table but already have their safety away from the relegation zone confirmed.
