'If only' - Brighton fans respond to interesting question asked by Seagulls' Twitter account

Was this the best week in Brighton & Hove Albion’s 120-year history?

General view outside the stadium prior to the Premier League match between Brighton & Hove Albion and Wolverhampton Wanderers at American Express Community Stadium on January 22, 2021.

That was the question posed to fans by the club on its social media accounts this morning following a week of superb results for the Seagulls.

The rationale behind the thinking?

Both Brighton's men and women toppled the reigning champions in Premier League and Women’s Super League for the first time ever.

Before last week neither the men's or women's team had defeated the reigning domestic champions in the league before let alone in the same week.

But that has all changed with Graham Potter's men defeating last season’s title winners Liverpool at Anfield, with Hope Powell’s women also shocking undefeated champions Chelsea.

Indeed, the question put to Seagulls fans by the club has prompted some debate on social media – to take a look at the best reactions, simply scroll down:

On Twitter, @thomscff said, “If only we’d beat Burnley.” whilst @toomuchtrossard added, “Was it a good week? Yes. Does it beat promotion? No. (In my opinion).”

@joshwellsss said:We are gigantic.”

@SeanDenyer explained: “This week was up there for me [Brighton’s defeat of Doncaster Rovers during the 2011-21 season]. From walking up to the ground with my dad to the celebrations after Buckley got the winner. Years and Years of frustration was released by thousands in the space of about 12 minutes.”

@AJ_BHAFC said: “3rd place after: (1) Hereford Away. (2) PL Promotion.

@owenbhafc___: “This isn’t even close to being the best week in the club’s history.”
