Jurgen Klopp could rotate his squad for their trip to Brighton

Captain Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum and Roberto Firmino were all rested for Sunday's laboured win over Aston Villa but made a crucial impact when coming off the bench.

Left-back Andy Robertson is due a rest but that could depend on whether stand-in James Milner has recovered from a minor problem which kept him out at the weekend.

Klopp said: "Brighton are a really good football team what they have done in the last season is incredible. Implementing a proper football style. He is doing a really good job there. They changed their approach since lockdown.

"So we don't know exactly what we will face. We need to be ready for that. After that Burnley, Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle (they are all fighting for something)."

Brighton boss Graham Potter has no fresh injury concerns ahead of the visit of Premier League champions Liverpool.

Long-term absentee Jose Izquierdo remains sidelined, while the club are regularly assessing the fitness of Steven Alzate, who had a minor groin procedure delayed during lockdown.

Alzate was said by Potter to be "struggling" in training earlier this week, so is unlikely to feature against the Reds.

Brighton enjoyed a 1-0 win at Norwich last Saturday and are nine point above the drop zone with five matches remaining.

Potter said, “It would be nice to get a result against them. Whenever you play the best it is an opportunity to test yourself and learn about yourselves.

“Liverpool have been amazing this season and are thoroughly deserved champions. It’s great for us to have that level of opposition.

"We have to make sure we retain Premier League status and keep fighting so that means trying to take points off every team between now and the end of the season.

“We knew the importance of the win so there was a bit of pressure on us and that probably reflected in the performance [at Norwich],” he said.

“We were delighted with the three points, but we have still got a lot of work to do. We’ve got five games to go, we need to get as many points as we can and keep fighting.

“We’re playing against the champions on Wednesday night so it doesn’t come any more difficult than that. But that’s the Premier League - you have got to face it and we have to be ready."
