Man City 1-0 Brighton RECAP: Hosts miss late penalty but hold on for three points plus transfer latest on Moises Caicedo and Yves Bissouma

One goal was enough as Manchester City edged past Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League this evening (Wednesday, January 13).

Phil Foden broke the deadlock shortly before the half-time whistle, with a smart finish from outside the box.

Brighton defended resolutely throughout and the hosts were unable to extend their advantage, even from the penalty spot. Substitute Raheem Sterling blazed his effort over the bar after Kevin De Bruyne was brought down by the otherwise impressive Albion goalkeeper, Robert Sanchez, in injury time.

Brighton had their own second-half chances but City held on to move into third place. Brighton remain in 17th, three points above 18th-placed Fulham, who travel to Tottenham Hotspur later this evening.
