Mark Lawrenson reveals why he's backing Watford to BEAT Brighton despite spirited comeback last weekend

Brighton & Hove Albion host Watford this weekend in their last match before their winter break, and the game is shaping up to be a real six-pointer as both sides look to move well clear of the relegation zone.

Writing in his weekly predictions piece for BBC Sport, Mark Lawrenson tipped Watford to claim all three points at the AMEX Stadium, backing Nigel Pearson's side to pick sneak a narrow 2-1 win.

Explaining his prediction, Lawro wrote: "Brighton got a really good point at West Ham last weekend. The Seagulls still haven't won in the league this season, but fighting back for a draw from 3-1 down is a big positive for Graham Potter and his players - it will feel like a win.

"Watford, however, were on the wrong end of a comeback, against Everton, and to lose after being 2-0 up at home was a big blow for them. But one thing is for certain, Hornets boss Nigel Pearson will have been at his side all week to get a reaction from them this weekend.

"I think we will see one, but if it is tight towards the end, I think it will be a nervous ending for everyone after what we saw last week."

Meanwhile, Lawro's opponent for the week, snowboarding sensation Katie Ormerod, opted for a reverse scoreline, with Albion claiming a 2-1 win.

The two sides last met on the opening day of the season, when Graham Potter's side blew the Hornets away 3-0 with a scintillating perfroamcne. Seagulls supporters will be hoping for more of the same this weekend, ahead of a tricky trip to face Sheffield United after the break.
