Potter made one change from the team that beat Southampton last weekend with Polish international Jakub Moder making his first Premier League start in place of Dan Burn who tweaked his hamstring at St Mary's.

Moder, 21, could well feature on the right of the defence with Joel Veltman shifting across to the left.

Experience duo Adam Lallana and Danny Welbeck start once more after impressing against Southampton and Neal Maupay retains his place in the team despite not scoring in his last nine Premier League outings

Brighton's starting XI: Sanchez; Moder, Veltman, White, Dunk; Bissouma, Lallana, Gross, Trossard; Maupay, Welbeck. Subs: Steele, Mac allister, Jahanbakhsh, Alzate, Izquierdo, Tau, Propper, Zeqiri, Burn

Here's how the fans reacted on social media:

@jp_brighton I have absolutely no idea what formation this is....but I like it

@owen_bhafc: Potter does love to throw in a new youngster for a big game

@MissWadgeY6NQT: Thrilled to see Moder getting a start! #BHAFC

@Brightonfan: Potter has thrown a huge spanner in the works here. Who the heck is playing at wing back then?! #bhafc

@Berty23: No idea who plays left wing back for #bhafc today. There will be scenes when Joelinton scores in a similar fashion to the two palace strikers with their single touch.

@BhaFreddie: Maupay and welbeck to score weirdly enough #bhafc

@louismyles: Genuinely cannot work out who plays where....but looks a great side!!

@Brightonfan: Newcastle at home. Another huge six pointer for us, simple as that. They are all MUST win, even though we are not saying it as such. Hopefully the confidence we have from last Sunday is going to be key for us. #bhafc

Newcastle boss Steve Bruce made two changes from their 1-1 draw with Aston Villa. Miguel Almiron returns after a two-match absence because of a knee injury.

Javier Manquillo also starts as Emil Krafth and Dwight Gayle miss out
