Pundit makes claim about £35m-rated Brighton defender that Leeds United fans will hate

The Whites – with White at the heart of their defence – romped to the Championship title this season, finishing 10-points clear of second-placed West Brom.

The 22-year-old is set to return to the Amex Stadium but speculation has suggested Leeds, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham are interested in the £35m-rated centre-back.

And many Leeds fans will be hoping Marcelo Bielsa will be able to persuade the youngster to come back to Elland Road. However, a pundit working for national radio station talkSPORT appears to have poured cold water on the possibility of a reunion.

“Ben White will not be going back to Leeds as far as we understand… and if White doesn’t go back to Leeds United they have a massive problem,” explained pundit Adrian Durham.

“It’s the Premier League, you’re not playing teams at the bottom of the Championship anymore. You’re playing Premier League teams.

“Some people say the difference between the bottom of the Premier League and the top of the Championship is minimal. I completely disagree.

“Leeds are certainly going to need to sign some better defenders.”

Brighton’s head coach Graham Potter believes the young defender is ‘100%’ ready for the Premier League.

He said: "He brings a different type of centre-back. I think he complements the others really well. He has got attributes that are really, really useful and he is going to be a top player.”
