VAR hasn't been universally popular this season, yet Brighton & Hove Albion fans will be thankful that the technology is in place, as the Seagulls have benefited from VAR more than any other side in the Premier League.

Brighton & Hove Albion are apparently seven goals better off than they theoretically would have been without VAR, the biggest net gain in the league, according to a table produced by Dale Johnson of ESPN.

The technology has famously had some teething problems in its first season of use in the Premier League, but boss Graham Potter will hope that the trend of calls that favour the Seagulls will continue.

On the flip side, Sheffield United and Norwich City have six less goals than they would have had without VAR, making them the biggest losers out of every Premier League side.

Wolves and West Ham also hard-done-by with a net loss of four goals so far this season.

Some have attributed VAR to Liverpool’s march towards the title so far this season, but Jurgen Klopp’s side have actually only made a net gain of one goal as a reusult of VAR decisions.
