The Australian goalkeeper had been a fairly reliable option for the Seagulls for some time, but in the wake of a patchy spell of form, Graham Potter took the decision to axe him in favour of promising young talent Robert Sanchez.

The 23-year-old spent some time with Rochdale last season, and has adapted to life in the Premier League with ease, keeping six clean sheets in 16 outings and generally impressing throughout.

So far this season he has prevented 2.61 expected goals from opposition sides, and his reflex save rate is an eye-catching 64.9%.

The Spaniard has surely established himself as the Seagulls’ number one going forward, and it’s hard to see Ryan playing his way back into Potter’s plans any time soon.
