The Seagulls travelled to Anfield and pulled off one of the most eye-catching results of the campaign to date, taking all three points from the champions thanks to a Steven Alzate strike.

The result leaves Albion 15th in the table and 10 points clear of the relegation zone.

Potter's men also picked an unexpected victory over Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend, and following their recent heroics, Sutton has been quick to praise the manager.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, the former Blackburn Rovers striker said: “Graham Potter always speaks well and has a wonderful temperament.

"Very matter of fact and doesn’t get too high when he wins or too low in defeat.”

As well as highlighting the levelheadedness of the Brighton boss, the pundit also reserved praise for Albion’s defensive performance.

Despite having over 60% possession on Wednesday night, Liverpool were limited to an xG of just 1.04, and Sutton was quick to single out two of the Seagulls’ key presences at the back.

In an earlier tweet, he wrote: “Absolutely brilliant display from Brighton.

"Dan Burn and Adam Webster top displays”.

Alzate’s strike on Merseyside gave Brighton their first win against the Reds since 1984. Albion hadn’t won at Anfield since a year prior, winning 2-1 in an FA Cup tie back in 1983.

Potter's side are now unbeaten in four in the Premier League will look to maintain their impressive run of form when they face Burnley on Saturday afternoon.
