Gross has not featured in the Seagulls' last three games owing to a hamstring injury, while Andone has missed the last two matches after pulling out of the starting line-up at Crystal Palace with a groin/thigh injury.

A decision will be made later this week on whether either will be involved against the Saints and speaking to, Albion boss Chris Hughton said: "Thursday will be a big day for Florin and Pascal.

“Florin at this moment has more chance than Pascal but they would have to train with the team on Thursday to have any chance of being involved on Saturday.

“With Pascal, we were always hopeful he might be available for the Southampton game.

“The type of injury that he had, although he has had no problems with it, was still significant enough that it has taken this period of time.”

There was good news injury-wise for Albion though after midfielder Davy Propper was not risked in Netherlands' match with Belarus.

Hughton said: “Davy is fine. I think what happened is he played in the first game for Holland against Germany and was a little bit stiff afterwards - they have got a good squad of players there.

“The feeling was to take no risks with him against Belarus, which we are delighted about.”
