The Bluebirds won with goals from Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Sean Morrison as they moved to within two points of fourth-from-bottom Albion. Here's how we rated the players of both teams.

No chance with either Cardiff goal. Little else to do.
Club captain's second Premier League appearance since December. Worked hard up and down the right.
Stood off Mendez-Laing when the Cardiff winger made it 1-0. Header comfortably saved at 1-0 in the first half. Dealt with aerial balls forward.
Had penalty appeals waved away when he went down under early Manga challenge. Lost Morrison which allowed Cardiff's captain to head home and make it 2-0.
Steady at the back, looked to support play going forward but some passes did not find their man.
Back after missing two games. Drilled a shot into the side netting in opening minute and sent another effort just wide.
Gave away possession a few times as Albion reverted back to a 4-4-1-1 formation.
Caught in possession in the Cardiff half before the visitors broke to take the lead. Gave away the ball on a couple of other occasions in the first half.
The winger struggled throughout the evening. Had a low cross held by Etheridge at his near post early in the second half. Subbed.
Returned to the side after missing seven games. Played behind Murray and looked to link play. Subbed early in the second half.
Fired wide when off balance early on and sent shot over at 2-0. Worked hard to hold the ball up. Headed against a post in injury-time.
Sent on after 55 minutes. Set up opportunity for Murray.
Got the last 20 minutes.Sent one shot into the North Stand.
Off his line quickly to deny Murray an opening in early exchanges. Claimed a few other crosses. No real shots to save.
Solid at the back against Albion's wingers who switched flanks throughout.
Superb at the back. Headed Cardiff's second when left unmarked from a free kick. Excellent challenge to block goalbound Andone shot late on.
Strong alongside Morrison in central defence. Perhaps fortunate not to give away a penalty for challenge on Dunk at 0-0.
Made 42 appearances on loan to Albion from Aston Villa in the 2014/15 season. Steady at left-back.
Excellent in midfield. Sent early shot over from 22 yards and headed over from close range at 1-0. Threat with long throws into the box. Subbed through injury on 55 minutes.
Steady influence in midfield. Sent cross-shot just wide early on.
Corner set up decent opportunity for Gunnarsson just before half-time. Showed some nice touches playing behind Niasse. Free kick set up Morrison to make it 2-0.
Real threat driving forward. Led breakaway and then curled the ball home into the top corner to put Cardiff ahead on 21 minutes.
Played the pass which set up Mendez-Laing to make it 1-0.
Pacy option up top and a handful for Duffy and Dunk.
Sent on for the injured Gunnarsson after 55 minutes.
Replaced Mendez-Laing late on.
Late introduction.
