Brighton sign former Leicester, Nottingham Forest and Doncaster midfielder

Midfielder Emily Simpkins has joined Brighton Ladies on a one-year deal after leaving Doncaster Belles this summer.

The 28-year-old had been with Doncaster for three years and was part of their squad who won promotion to the top flight in 2015.

The midfielder has also played for Leicester, Nottingham Forest and Birmingham, winning the Women’s Premier League title with Forest and featuring in the Blues squad that reached the Champions League semi-finals.

Simpkins has joined Brighton on a free transfer and Albion Women's first-team manager Hope Powell said: “It is a pleasure to welcome Emily to the club.

“She has played at the very highest level in the Champions League, and her experience will be vital this coming season.

“Emily will add a new dimension to our options in central midfield, and I am very much looking forward to working with her this season.”
