The 24-year-old began his career at Vicarage Road in the club’s academy in 2007 and a year later he made his first-team debut in a League Cup tie against Bristol Rovers.
Ross went on to make 95 appearances, mostly in the Championship, for Watford and had loan spells with Plymouth Argyle and Barnet during that time.

He had a trial with Wigan Athletic and his former boss Malky Mackay and a spell at Gillingham earlier this season.
Manager Mark Yates said: “Ross has got a good pedigree in the game and you can see that in the time he has been with us for the last couple of weeks.
“I think he’s an excellent player who can operate anywhere in midfield.

Ross has been given squad number 22 and will be available for Saturday’s Sky Bet League 2 game against Yeovil Town.
