The Toffees ran out 3-1 winners with goals from Richarlison (two) and Seamus Coleman.

Lewis Dunk had made it 1-1 just past the half-hour mark but Everton were in control for much of the match.

Speaking afterwards, Silva said: “I am really satisfied, that was our best performance of the season at home.

“We did well and deserved the three points. We scored three goals and it was possible we could have scored more.

“Our players performed well from the first minute. We started quickly and created a chance after two or three minutes.

“We were fast, with good combinations, creating chances and good moments. Of course, some of our players performed really well but the most important thing for me is how we performed as a team and controlled the match.”

Silva praised Brazilian forward Richarlison afterwards but was disappointed with the manner of Albion's goal, when Lewis Dunk headed home Solly March's cross after Alireza Jahanbakhsh took a short corner.

He said: “Richarlison performed well and it was a very good moment of football for our first goal – a good transition, a good last pass and good movement and finish,” said Silva.

“It was very good moment and very good play from our team.

“For Richarlison’s second goal, he has that capacity to press higher and put more pressure on the central defenders. It’s not just him – it was him and Gylfi in that moment. But he won the ball and his quality and the way he finished the moment was fantastic.

“The only thing I didn’t like during that match was the corner. We planned and worked on that type of moment during the week and knew that they were strong in those situations.

“We have to do better and be stronger in those moments. It was something we were improving on in the past five or six games but it is something we have to keep working on. That is the only thing [I wasn't happy with] because we put in a very good performance.

"We controlled the game and Jordan [Pickford] has only really had to make a save near the end of the match."
