The 22-year-old spent 18 months with Albion after joining from Real in July, 2015. He was coached by Zinedine Zidane in Real's youth set-up but signed for Brighton after the Spanish giants scrapped their C team.

Harper was unable to force his way into Chris Hughton's first team squad, though, as the Seagulls battled for promotion from the Championship. He played 25 times for the club's under-23 team, before returning to Spain to join Malaga - where he was born to Scottish parents - in January, 2017.

Harper was promoted from Malaga's B team into the first team this summer, after the club were relegated from La Liga last year.

They have started the Segunda Division season with six wins from seven matches and Harper - who has received praise for his performances - has already netted two winning goals - in 1-0 victories over rivals Almeria and Rayo.

Malaga sit four points clear of four clubs at the top.
