The French winger was dismissed for a wild lunge on Cherries full-back Adam Smith with the Seagulls 2-0 down before they went on to lose 5-0.

Asked in his pre-match press conference ahead of tonight's game with Cardiff if Knockaert will play again this season once his suspension ends, Hughton said: "I can tell you in all honesty Anthony has put himself in the position where he has made a mistake.

"At this moment I can’t afford to be thinking about Anthony.

"We will miss him for the next three games. He will train as hard as he always trains and then when he is available then it’s time to think about any inclusion in that particular squad.

"But he has made a mistake as other players have done in the past, and we’ve had other players sent off this season. Unfortunately for him and for us he has to suffer the consequences."
