The Seagulls lost all six games away to the top Premier League sides last season and have lost all three of their matches away to the top six this season - however they have lost just 2-0 at Manchester City, 1-0 at Liverpool and 2-1 at Manchester United.

Stephens says Albion will go to Chelsea this evening looking to pick up points and said: "I think we’ve improved, especially on last year, going away form home to the top six.

"I think our performances have improved. We were obviously disappointed (with Southampton) so we will try and put that behind us and first and foremost get a good performance and hopefully a result to follow."

Stephens added Albion's players have not been thinking about the FA Cup semi-final and their full focus is on tonight's game.

He said: "There has been no talk of any cup game and there won’t be until it arrives next Saturday.

"That’s the way it has got to be. We approach one game at a time. We have been saying for a couple of weeks now they are all important, and even more so now we haven’t got a result (against Southampton).

"We’ve got the opportunity to put three more points on the board before the cup games, so we swiftly move on and we’ve got the Chelsea game to look forward to now."
