Podmore resigns from Bexhill post

Jamie Podmore resigned as Bexhill United joint manager due to ill health last night (Tuesday).

The former central defender hasn’t attended a game or training session since Boxing Day and Darrol Parris, who was sharing the duties with Podmore, will now take sole charge.

A club statement read: “Bexhill United Football Club has acccepted the resignation of joint manager Jamie Podmore with immediate effect. Unfortunately, due to health reasons Jamie feels unable to continue, and the club have respected his wishes.

“Darrol Parris now takes sole charge at the helm, and the club are fully supportive of both him and the team. The club look forward to travelling to Wick on Saturday and will be looking to add to their league points tally.”

Podmore began feeling unwell before Christmas and was initially diagnosed with a chest infection. Antibiotics failed to resolve the problem, though, and subsequent hospital tests suggested a viral infection.

Parris and Podmore took over at Sussex County Football League Division Two club Bexhill last summer. The full article will appear in Friday’s Bexhill Observer.
