The Seagulls will clinch the title with victory at home to Bristol City tomorrow, or if Newcastle lose at Cardiff tonight.

Hughton feels these are ‘precious days’ for the squad, after they sealed promotion to the Premier League last week and would love to lift the title in front of 30,000 fans at the Amex tomorrow evening.

He said: “As a manager, that’s what you’re here for. You’re here to try to guide a team the best way you can.

“As regards to any personal achievement, it would be right up there, particularly to win a title, but it would mostly be for this group of players.

“When you go through a playing career, there are a higher percentage of players that don’t achieve anything –when I say achieve, I mean win anything, a cup competition, promotion or a title.

“These are precious days and particularly for the senior players, someone like Bruno, who has been outstanding for me.

“We’ve spoken long and hard about what this means to the club but for the players it’s the end of a brilliant season for them. They couldn’t really have put any more in than they have and it would mostly be for them.”
