Rye hammer eight-man Sidley

Lee Jules and goalkeeper Gavin Bourne were both shown straight red cards and Chris Rea was given his marching for picking up two yellows during the closing 20 minutes.

Referee Kevin Roberts also booked nine other players including six from Rye during a hotly-contested local derby at The Salts.

The Quarterboys made the most of their numerical advantage to score four times late on with Duncan McArthur completing his hat-trick. Matt Maclean and Scott Ramsay also got on the scoresheet.

McArthur opened his account on 18 minutes by stroking home a penalty after the same player had been brought down by Danny Spice.

There was little to choose between the teams until Sidley defender Jules was given his marching orders for a late challenge on Ben Radley.

Not long after McArthur clipped home his second although Sidley were convinced he was offside. Maclean drove in the third 10 minutes from time and McArthur grabbed his third with a fine free kick before Rea was shown his second yellow card.

Two minutes into stoppage time Andy Hales was brought down in the box and before it was taken Bourne was sent-off for apparently throwing the ball at the Rye substitute. Scott Ramsay made no mistake from 12 yards against stand-in goalie Terry Payne.
