Solution found to Sunday football crisis

THE PCM Hastings & East Sussex Sunday Football League will continue after a successful Emergency General Meeting on Monday night.

The future of the long-standing league was under threat after last week’s withdrawal of Polegrove Panthers left Division One with only five teams and rumours of another side dropping out.

All league fixtures were suspended as a result of the crisis, but it was agreed at the meeting that two teams would go up from Division Two, leaving both tiers with seven clubs and the league season starting all over again.

Bexhill AAC and Oakfield United will join Bo-Peep, Hollington Oak United, Millers Arms, Ore Athletic and Seven Stars in Division One, while Division Two will now be made up of Bo-Peep II, Comet, Iden Park, LG Opticals, Netherfield, Peasmarsh and The Duke.

Each team will play each other twice, giving all sides 12 league matches under the new format. It was agreed that the cup competitions will remain unchanged as they are already well advanced.

Any teams thinking of joining the league should contact Alan Green at [email protected] or on 07919 048191.
