Substitutions

“We know they score most of their goals from set pieces, especially corners, they’ve scored seven goals from corners before tonight, so to concede two from set pieces knowing that, we’re very disappointed. But fortunately, we never gave up, we kept fighting. I think the substitutes did very well and changed the pace. Disappointed about the result but very happy with the spirit of the team.”

Andy Carroll

“At this moment, Andy is not able to play more than 45 minutes. We didn’t create chances in the first half, we tried to find him too many times with high crosses. We tried to make another way of attacking with Lucas Perez and that’s why he didn’t continue.”

Samir Nasri

“Samir has been with us for one month, my intention was to use him but in the way the game was tonight it was a risk for him to start playing but I’m absolutely sure he will be a decisive player for our team.”

Mark Noble

“He was one of the players I tried to rest. His personality is very important for this club. He always gives the best of him.”

First half performance

"Disappointed because we can’t play here at home and not make one chance in 45 minutes. We know that Brighton is a team that defends well, they didn’t have chances also. We are defending well but lack creativity and movement.”

Michail Antonio

“Very useful because we had Fredericks injury for the last three months, Antonio is playing both positions as winger and full back so I’m very happy with him. His performance is improving. In this moment, he is a very useful player.”
