Cottesmore Vets raise cash for charity

Cottesmore Golf Club Veterans' Society hosted their annual charity open competition on a glorious sunny day which was the hottest day of the year.

A total of more than 60 golfers took part with half from other clubs across the south east.

The club raised a total of over £1,500 for their captain’s chosen charity.

This was the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance and St Catherine’s Hospice - Crawley, with the help of a number of prominent sponsors.

There were a number of prizes awarded at the event with the Open Champion Trophy going to a Cottesmore member, Geoff Mitchell, with 40 stableford points.

He was followed by the leading Cottesmore veteran, Bob Sparks and the leading visitor, Alan Jobson from Broke Hill Golf Club.

The event organisers, Alan Rengger and Paddy Dwzer (president), thanked all the sponsors and helpers for their assistance in making this one of the main events of the year.

The Cottesmore Veterans’ Golf Society meets every Tuesday and this was one of a whole selection of competitions held throughout the season.
