GOLF:SUSSEX WINS LEAGUE TITLE

SUSSEX recorded only its second ever Southern Counties League title win in the 43 years of the competition by beating Hertfordshire in a very close finish by 6.5- 5.5.

Sussex led 3 to 1 into the afternoon singles. Leading off for Sussex was Ben Evans, fresh from triumphing with the England Team in the Home Internationals, who was paired against South African born Greg Schmidt.

By the seventeenth hole the match was all square at which point possibly the greater experience of Evans really started to tell and he came home the victor by two holes.
