It's Broadwater's cup

BROADWATER shocked Findon to lift the Cup at Sea Lane on Sunday, banish the disappointment of their defeat in the final last year, and fuel their aim to steer away from the relegation fringe,

In a one-sided final, in which extras top-scored for both sides, they belied their lowly league postion with an emphatic seven-wicket victory with 14 overs to spare.

Skipper Richard Luker said that he thought this success would give Broadwater the confidence they need to avoid relegation in their final match at home to Ifield on September 2.

He admitted: "We haven't played well in the League and I'm sure that if we can reproduce today's form we'll beat the drop. I'd been expecting to chase a target of about 240, so to bowl Findon out for 104 with 14 overs to spare was a very good effort. They may have had the worst of the pitch but when the ball popped about a bit I think they might have read too much into the wicket and played some hasty shots."
