King after new blood for next season

NINE of the current playing squad at Lewes Football Club have signed up to remain at the Dripping Pan for next season, it has been announced.

And boss Steve King revealed he aims to keep at least a further three Rooks on for next season '“ while boosting the squad by up to a further five new arrivals.

With hopes of a play-off place gone for this season, the Rooks have signalled their determination to make a serious push for the Conference South title next term.

King said, "There will be about four or five new players added to the squad next season. And I hope to tie up 12 of the current squad. That will make the squad for next about 17 or 18 players."

King admitted he was impressed with a Conference South player he watched last week, saying, "I will follow it up."

Meanwhile, Pinkie Jones has confirmed that it will continue to be the title shirt sponsors for Lewes FC again next season. It was confirmed at Saturday's game with Hayes that the five-figure sponsorship deal would continue next season.

It has also been announced that Lewes will have a new home and away kit for next season. The new kits will be launched in June.

The current Lewes kits will be auctioned off at events coming up over the next few weeks, starting tomorrow at the supporters' player of the year award, and followed by the Lewes FC Golf Day, club presentation evening, and club end of season dinner. The supporters' player of the year awards, will start at 6pm in the club bar, following the Rooks' game with Farnborough at the Dripping Pan.

Simon Wormull is rated '50-50' for Saturday's clash with Farnborough at the Dripping Pan (ko 3pm) after suffering a nasty thumb injury against Hayes last week.
